The scope of activities of the Information Processing Centre includes research, development, planning, implementation and services in the range of scientific information systems, and particularly:
design, implementation, operation and improvement of information systems for the needs of financing research from the resources of the national budget,
acquirement of information and preparation of cumulative and profile information services as well as information syntheses concerning research and R&D projects undertaken all over the world,
technological assistance for the processes of organisation and financing the scientific research, as well as establishments acting for the benefit of the scientific research and the research and development undertakings,
collection, maintenance and exchange of the scientific and technical information.

Tasks assigned to the Information Processing Centre include inter alia:

development and implementation of information systems on the organisation and financing of scientific research and the research and development sphere,
keeping the record of the results of the completed research and R&D projects,
propagation of the results of the completed research and R&D projects,
running the international exchange of scientific and technical information in the range resulting from inter-governmental agreements and the current needs of the State authorities,
elaboration of developmental trends for the national activities of international computer networks of scientific and technical information,
propagation and dissemination of information on Polish science and technology both in this country and abroad,
services in the range of information, computer science, editing, publishing and typography rendered in support of science and, first of all, the organisation of contests for the realisation of research projects.
