Scientific Research SYNABA The service comprises: Descriptions of scientific research and research and development projects, doctoral and qualifying dissertations and scientific experts' reports carried out in Polish scientific and research-development units. Volume: Over 100.000 descriptions. Stored data: * Data have been accumulated since 1984. * Because of remarkable changes which the extent of accumulated data has undergone over the past years as well as on account of their format, some descriptions could not be presented in this service. * The service does not contain information on projects of confidential nature. * In mid-1999 the information on scientific data accumulated in the framework of the SYNABA system was included into the integrated database created in the Information Processing Centre referred to as "Science in Poland", which made it possible to interlink it thematically with other data accumulated in the database. Detailed description: In the presented service two groups of data, SYNABA I and SYNABA II, are available. SYNABA I - is a collection of 69.580 descriptions included into the database in the years 1990 - 1998. The collection is of a static nature, i.e., no new records are entered here and there are no linkages between data included and other data found in the database "Science in Poland". This means that if we want to learn more about, for example, the manager supervising some project, we have to refer to "Scientists and Researches" and find the person by supplying his or her first and last names. SYNABA II - is an ever-increasing (over 30.000 records at present) collection of descriptions of research projects added continually since 1999 to the database "Science in Poland". These descriptions have linkages with remaining data. SYNABA II comprises also a number of research projects completed before 1999 about which the Information Centre was informed in 1999 and at a later date. When searching for research projects performed in the years 1995-1999 it is advisable - for technicality reasons - to first check the SYNABA II collection and then move on to SYNABA I, if necessary. A description of a research project comprises: * type of project, * date of starting and completion or interruption of the project, * title of the project, * information on manager and other authors of the project, * information on the unit in which the project has been carried out, * information on the ordering unit, * information on the unit which was the first to undertake the implementation of the effects of the project, * symbols in accordance with the classification applied by the State Committee for Scientific Research and Polish Subject Classification (PKT) characterising the subject matter of the project and the institution in which the project has been carried out, * tender concerning the utilisation of the effects of the project, * bibliographical descriptions of publications written following the completion of the project.
